Map of initiatives that protect the forests and the Mayan biocultural heritage in the Yucatán Peninsula.

This map shows ventures and organizations explicitly working to preserve the Mayan biocultural heritage of the Yucatán Peninsula. Consuming their goods and services or supporting their activities directly benefits those who are safeguarding this heritage, especially that related to the forests. It includes direct producers, community enterprises, and collectives.

The map covers melipona honey production and its derivatives, activities related to plants such as seed exchanges and medicinal plants, ecotourism, handicraft production, collectives, and the teaching of the Mayan language.

All information presented was gathered from publicly available online sources. The date of the last update is indicated. Regarding locations, when a specific coordinate was not available, the initiative was placed at the center of the site from which it operates (for example, if it is known to be in Maní but not the exact location, the point was placed at the center of Maní).

The information is updated every two months. If you would like your organization or venture to appear on the map or be removed from it, please write to: fcymm@enesmerida.unam.mx
